What: Tour Camp - 2021, Valdez, AK

  1. Spend a week camped on a Glacier while picking lines to climb and ride from the doorstep of your tent.
  1. Experience backcountry ski touring and splitboarding Alaska in it’s wildest form. Bring your favorite B.C. partner to share a spacious two person tent and a communal tent for drying out and enjoying hot cooked meals and drinks both morning and night. Guided groups will climb and ride amazing AK lines in a remote cirque in the Chugach.
  1. Fly into an unforgettably majestic location in one of Alaska's most iconic mountain ranges, the Chugach. Here you will work for the best turns of your life, here you will appreciate the needed rejuvenation the mountains graciously give.

When: April 21-30, 2021

  1. Fly or Drive to Valdez Alaska where you will meet your guide. The first day will be spent going over gear and weather logistics, as well as a glacier safety and rescue protocols briefing before flying out to camp.
  1. If weather prohibits flights into Camp groups will day tour from Thompson pass while waiting for weather to clear.

Trip description: Ski Touring/Ski Mountaineering

  1. 9 day on the ground in Valdez, AK.
    1. 2 days in Valdez to gear prep & complete necessary field safety training/briefings
    2. 7 days/6 nights in the Chugach mountains making the best turns of your life (best memories too).
  1. Camping on a glacier, surrounded by awe inspiring terrain in every direction.

Required Gear:

  1. Avy rescue gear (beacon, shovel, probe), to include airbag.
  1. Touring gear in good working order with relevant spare parts (AT skis or a splitboard with pre-cut skins, ski crampons and adjustable poles).
  1. Crampons (fit to & compatible with your boots), ice axe and glacier travel harness with 2 locking carabiners.
  1. Sleeping bag rated to 0* F or below, down booties or efficient snow boots, and 800 fill down jacket for camping.
  1. Adequate clothing; including the ability to layer, wick and dry.
    1. Gore-tex shell, jacket & pants
    2. mid layer, light to medium weight fleece or equivalent.
    3. base layer, wicking merino wool or synthetic (no cottons).
  1. Sunglasses AND goggles. PLUS Sunscreen.
  1. 2 water bottles. Cup/Mug, bowl & spoon.
  1. Preferred snacks for the week.

Trip cost: $3800 per person

What’s included:

  1. Ground Transportation to and from the airport for your arrival/departure.
  1. Hotel accommodations while in Valdez for trip prep.
  1. Aircraft transportation (helicopter or ski-plane) in and out of the field.
  1. 3 meals/day while on the glacier and electrolyte drink mix (at tour camp).
  1. Fresh water supply/snow for drinking water.
  1. Fully Guided backcountry skiing/snowboarding with a team-emphasis.
  1. Cook/communal tent, all cookware & spare utensils.
  1. All the powder & glacial ice you can handle!

What’s NOT included:

  1. Alcoholic beverages (Permitted sparingly, but safety is paramount. *Abuse/intoxication will not be tolerated while in the field).
  1. Snack foods (jerky, power bars, specific preferenced items).
  1. Personal gear (sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping pad, etc).
  1. Food while in Valdez during prep days.
  1. Sleep Tents (contact us if you don't have a tent, we have rentals available).
